SouthWare has released our year-end PLUS update for Revision 16 and 17. There is one small change to 2025 1099 reporting.  You may not require an update. If you printed W2s and/or 1099's last year, the same programs may work for this year-end.

2026 W2 Changes

• No Changes.
• May need to modify pay stub or create reporting to communicate total overtime pay and the total allowable for income tax exemption.

2026 1099 Changes
(updated 12/19/25)

• Excess golden parachute payments are no longer reported on Form 1099-MISC. You can now report these payments on Form 1099-NEC, box 3.
• Golden Parachute payments can no longer be filed through the FIRE System. This includes current year and prior year payments. Golden Parachute payments must be filed using the Information Returns Intake System (IRIS) or on paper. Payments filed through the FIRE System that need to be corrected must be filed on paper.​

WARNING: If any new SouthWare programs must be installed BEFORE printing the 1099-NEC forms or creating the Electronic File for 1099-MISC/1099-NEC - the CMSS Expiration date must be 12/31/25 or greater.
